Hello everyone, this is Willow & Blooms first blog which also signifies the launch of our new website!
I hope to bring to you lots of news, updates, ideas and inspiration from real life in a flower shop and the world of flowers and plants in general.
Firstly a little bit of history about Willow & Blooms. The shop doors were opened on 10th December 2012. I remember it very clearly, my family, husband and I had worked crazy hours over a few short weeks to get the shop customer ready in time for Christmas. Walls were painted, furniture was sourced, accessories and Christmas decorations found, markets visited, fresh flower wholesaler set up, landline installed, new till brought, computer, printer, plants, flower wrap, oasis bricks, vases, ribbons, plants….………….the list was endless. Amazingly it was done and we opened as planned at 9.00am and I haven’t looked back.
Rather naively I thought I would be rattling around on my own for 6 months or so waiting for “things to happen” but it was very soon apparent that I would need a delivery driver and a florist if I was to fulfil my dream of owning and running my own successful business. Today I employ 2 fabulous and talented full time florists and 2 wonderful part time delivery drivers. I have a lovely experienced freelance florist who helps when we are very busy, a husband who takes care of the accounts, and a very supportive family who get roped in when needed (they love it really!).
Our loyal and supportive customers have given us joy and laughter, we have shared tears and hugs and chatted about everything under the sun. We have worked with some incredible companies, local and further afield and met some fascinating individuals, visited grand estates and castles, climbed ladders and scaffold towers and delivered flowers for birthdays, sympathy, engagements, births and weddings.
Hard work but oh so worth it, I feel truly blessed.
